Margaret (Peggy) N. Darling, 94, passed away on May 4, 2023 in Illinois. She was born on November 10, 1928 to the late Harley and Martha (Schere) Shackelton. Peggy married Robert (Bob) A. Darling on May 8, 1948 and they settled down in Des Plaines, Illinois with their four children.
Bob and Peggy moved to Rogers, Arkansas in 1977 to enjoy their retirement in a warmer climate. Peggy joined the parish of St. Vincent DePaul and was active in the parish. She loved assisting in the seasonal decorating of the adoration chapel in the old St. Vincent DePaul church. She joined the 3rd Order of Lay Carmelites and was active within that organization. In 2015, she moved back to the Chicago area.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; sisters, Helen and Henrietta; and brother, Harley (Buddie).
She is survived by her daughters, Paulette Chiuppi (Hank), Terri Streng (Tom); Mary Steed (Richard); son, Art Darling; and 7 grandchildren.
Her visitation will be on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 5-7pm in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 2:30 pm in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, burial will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.
There will also be a memorial service in the Chicago area at a later date.
