He was a 1954 graduate of Rogers High School and served in the United States Navy from 1955-1959 as a mechanical engineer, and he assisted with repairing submarines. He married Doris Garrett in 1957 and she passed away in 2011. He married Helen (Garoutte) Garner in 2013 and she survives.
In Rogers, Loma worked for Pel-Freeze Biologicals for over 14 years. He then had a career with Pile’s Concrete/Burial Vaults in Lowell. When he later moved to Missouri, Loma served as the pastor at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Carthage from 1979-2023. During this time, he also had a position with Stern-Williams and worked as a pattern maker.
Loma is remembered for being calm, and always helping anyone in need. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and he made a great impact in the lives of those around him. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his children: Howard (Dorinda) Burrell, Randy Burrell, and Debbie Campbell; sister, Delores Miller of Texas; 9 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Harold and DeWayne Burrell.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 28th at Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery from 1:00-2:00PM, with graveside service immediately to follow at 2:00PM. Service will be officiated by Derin Stidd, and Navy military honors to be rendered.
