Gene Long

Eugene “Gene” Long, age 76, of Rogers, passed away February 19, 2011, at his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Nashville, Arkansas, on July 24, 1934, to the late Thurman and Ethyl (Sparks) Long.

On June 21, 1952, he married Annie Brooks and they were married almost 59 years at the time of his death. He was a long-time business owner in Texarkana, Arkansas, and worked locally in the family business, SCM Designs. He enjoyed golf, gardening, caring for his friends and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Long, of the home; sons, Mike Long and wife Sherri of Rogers, Greg Long and wife Sheri of Bentonville; brothers, Lavelle Long and Bobby Long, both of Texarkana, Arkansas; and grandchildren, Holly Wright and husband Chris of Rogers, Dustin Long and wife Amanda of Birmingham, Alabama, Cody Long and wife Megan of North Little Rock, and Ross Long of Fayetteville.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, in the Rollins Funeral Home Chapel. His friend and pastor, Ricky Williams, will officiate.
