He was a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church and attended as long as he was able. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a farmer and liked to keep his yard looking nice as long as he was able. He wrote many poems over his life. He enjoyed watching westerns and the Grand Ole Opry and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Mary Brown whom he married June 18, 1949. One son James Brown of the home, one daughter Judy Swadley and husband Ronnie of Bentonville, 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Kenneth Brown, Barbara Tucker and Melvin Brown.
A visitation for Leon will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Victory Missionary Baptist, 1120 E Main St., Gentry, Arkansas 72734. Following the visitation will be a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Victory Missionary Baptist Church, 1120 E Main St., Gentry, AR.
Leon will be laid to rest in Coffelt Cemetery.
