Buddy, the youngest of three children, was born on June 12, 1937 in Bentonville to Dave and Dorris Sherman. He recently celebrated his 84th birthday.
Buddy was married to the late Sonja Grimes Sherman for 43 years. He is survived by two sons, Scott and Gregg and by a daughter Shara, all of Northwest Arkansas. He also had 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren who loved him dearly. His family simply referred to him as “Pops”.
Buddy was a natural born salesman and businessman. After holding various management positions during a 20+ career at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co, he decided to leave the corporate world and opened his own business in Rogers called The Jeannery. A few years later, his attention turned to investing in the stock market and commercial real estate holdings.
Besides his family, his true passion was quail hunting. Few things brought him greater joy than hunting behind his beloved pointers and seeing them on point just before the covey rise.
His love of the sport inclined him to become one of the original co-founders of the Benton County Quail Unlimited Chapter, along with Byron Pierce. He also served as the Chapter’s 1st Chairman in 1990 and the Arkansas State Chairman in 1992.
In his last days, he spoke often about his wonderful family and truly incredible life he loved and lived. His hard work granted him the opportunity to do and see everything he wanted.
Pops will forever be remembered by all of us as a kind and generous man. He was a straight shooter and a man of his word. He was also a proud Reagan Republican. Rest in Peace Pops, it was a hell of a ride!
The family would like to say thank you to Judy Cowan of Circle of Life Hospice and Sandy Fletcher. In addition, to all our friends who offered love and support.
