Darrel “Butch” Bright, age 63, of Cave Springs, passed away October 1, 2010, at the V.A. Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born in Bentonville on October 20, 1946, to the late Murlin and Gladys (Ford) Bright.
Mr. Bright served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam where he was a member of the First Air Cavalry as a Crew Chief and Door Gunner. He received two bronze stars, one of which was for valor. He was a member of the American Legion Post 274 in Cave Springs, and a member of Elmdale Baptist Church in Springdale.
He enjoyed gardening and fishing with his grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Susan (Smith) Bright of the home; daughter, Missi Martin and husband Nathan of Rogers; son, Cory Gayer and wife Becky of Fayetteville; son-in-law, Jeff Bockholt and wife Angela of Kansas City, Kansas; sisters, Murlene Rothrock of Wichita Falls, Texas, Athlene Parsons of Fayetteville; and grandchildren, Dyson and Riley Bockholt, Isaac and Samuel Martin.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Holly Bright Bockholt, who passed away in 2003; and a brother, Delwin Lee Bright.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Elmdale Baptist Church, 1700 W. Huntsville Ave., in Springdale, officiated by Pastor Tom Shaw. Burial will follow in Phillips Cemetery near Cave Springs.
