Carolyn Lee (McCarty) Boyd left her earthly home to be with her Father, God, on March 17, 2021 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She leaves memories of her warmth and laughter with her family and an abundance of friends in Rogers, Arkansas and Houston, Texas.
Lee was born to Al and Carolyn McCarty on March 3, 1965 in Helena, Arkansas and moved with her family to Rogers when she was in junior high. She grew up surrounded by the family she knew as a daughter of successful local business owners and the St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church community. Her brother, AV joined them, and they were a family that were devoted to live life to the fullest and love with all their hearts.
Lee graduated from Rogers High in 1983. Her husband, Michael, met his match in Lee. On their 2nd date, Lee declined another because she “didn’t date men with ponytails or earrings.” The next day, Mike went to the barber because on their 3rd date, Mike knew Lee was his forever. They began their most incredible journey on May 29, 1993 and the following year, their daughter, Michelle made her debut to a family that was committed to laughter, deep love and LEGENDARY shenanigans. Their adventures always included their beloved nieces and other family, which, at times, could take them all over the country where Mike and Lee never left without making friends. She was able to tell stories that could make someone just want to be there. She laughed often. And, we laughed along with her. Her smile was warm, welcoming and a true delight. Her happy place was always by a pool, outside in the sun, surrounded by friends, family and her treasured pups, Pearl Bailey, Luna, Bonnie, Coco and even the cat, Stevie Nicks. Lee never wanted to be the center of attention, she just wanted to be in that moment of pure joy. Her passion for helping the most vulnerable of God’s creatures was to be a part of the Houston Shaggy Dog Rescue. Her efforts were to benefit the adoption of rescued Shaggy Dogs, of which Pearl Bailey was one. Lee was a pillar of strength to those that needed it, but also a proper lady in every sense of the word.
The world lost a friend and confidant when Lee went home.
She leaves behind her husband, Michael of 27 years; her daughter, Michelle; her Mother, Carolyn McCarty; her brother, AV McCarty and his wife Nina; brothers-in-law Danny Boyd and his wife Judy Jane and Billy Boyd and his wife Charlotte. She also leaves her cherished nieces, Jordan, Brynn, Kali, Alix, Olivia and Maddie as well as extended family and many, many friends.
Lee was welcomed in Heaven by her father, grandparents, father-in-law, mothers-in-law and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to the Houston Shaggy Dog Rescue (http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/) in Lee’s name.
A visitation will be held at Rollins Funeral Home from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 and a celebration of Carolyn’s Life will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 25, 2021. A graveside service will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery. The family requests colorful and comfortable attire.
