Betty Maxine Head, 87, Holiday Island, Arkansas (formerly Imogene, Iowa) was born November 16, 1934 in Malvern, Iowa to Gladys (Wheeler) Weak and Oliver Weak. She passed away peacefully on August 15, 2022 at the Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Betty was raised on a farm near Hastings, Iowa. The family moved to Ava, Missouri, where she completed high school in 1952. On November 13, 1955, Betty married Fay Mayberry of Silver City, Iowa at the United Methodist Church in Red Oak, Iowa. They lived near Malvern until 1960 when they purchased a farm near Randolph, Iowa. Betty and Fay had three children; Melanie, Merri (died at birth) and Ken. Betty worked for 30 years as an Administrative Assistant and Loan Officer at the Randolph State Bank.
Betty married Daniel Head at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on March 7, 1981 and his children Terry, Tom and Cathy joined the family. Betty was active at St. Patrick’s, serving as a lector and on the Altar Society. Betty also was an election volunteer and served as the chair of the local election board and was a volunteer tutor at Iowa Western Community College. Betty enjoyed entertaining with food and was a collector of cookbooks and recipes.
