Dr. Morton Koff

Dr. Koff was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was surrounded by family when he passed. Dr. Koff was the youngest of five children in his family and was raised in Philadelphia. He earned a degree in podiatric medicine at Temple University. During World War II he served in Europe as a medical corpsman. He came to the Washington area in 1949 and soon established his practice in a private home on North Highland Street in the Clarendon district of Arlington. Dr. Koff resided in Bethesda for most of those years. He was proud of personally delivering his first grandchild when she was born suddenly and prematurely at his Bethesda home and then rushing her by car to Children's Hospital. Dr. Koff saw patients until retiring in 1986. He and his wife of 62 years, the former Jennie "Jean" Rosendorf, divided their time between homes in Palm Beach County, Florida, and Silver Spring, Maryland. In retirement Dr. Koff became an avid tennis player, following the weather wherever he could play regularly. In 2009 the Koffs returned fulltime to Maryland. Dr. Koff was known for his charisma and enthusiasm and loved being first on the dance floor at parties.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Diane Fine (Silver Spring, Md.), Rhonda Zillig (Baltimore) and a son, Warren Koff (Silver Spring); four grandchildren, Lisa Fine Goldstein (Avram Goldstein), Steven Fine (Joelle Pauly-Fine), Bryan Zillig (Rachel Frazer Zillig) and Jessica Zillig Frank (Jamie Frank); and two great-grandchildren, Eli Goldstein and Alexandra Fine.

A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 10 - 11 AM at Danzansky-Goldberg Memorial Chapels Inc. 1170 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852. Interment to follow at King David Memoiral Gardens, Falls Church, VA. The family will welcome guest back at the funeral home at 2 PM. The family will have a minyan service at his late residence Tuesday evening at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org
