JAMES R. WEISS On June 27, 2010, James R. Weiss of Potomac, MD passed away suddenly. Beloved husband of 38 years to Lynn; devoted father of Allana Kelly (Mike) and Tessa Hicks (Dan); adored grandfather of Jonah; cherished son of Norman and the late Zelda Weiss; loving brother of Susan (Judd) Shoval and Jeffrey (Nancy Freeman) Weiss. Also survived by many caring nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, partners and colleagues. James spent his childhood in Wilkes-Barre, PA and was a graduate of Northwestern University and Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. He practiced antitrust law for 36 years. He was trial attorney with the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice for 14 years, ultimately serving as its Chief of the Transportation Energy & Agriculture Section. He is the first recipient of Antitrust Division Harold M. Stephens Award in 1988. Since 1988 he has been a partner in the law firm of K&L Gates LLP and its predecessor firms and co-chair of the firm''s Antitrust & Trade Regulation Practice. James was an avid biker, tennis player and outdoorsman. He will be missed terribly by all of those who loved him. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 29 at 11 a.m. at Danzansky-Goldberg Memorial Chapel, 1170 Rockville Pike, MD. Internment will be on Wednesday in Wilkes-Barre PA. The family will be observing Shiva on Thursday at 7:30 pm at Lynn''s home. Contributions may be made in Jim''s honor to the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and The Trustees of Reservations.
