She was born in Blairsville, GA, the youngest of 8 children, and moved to Detroit, MI, with her husband in 1945 where she was a homemaker until their retirement, when they relocated to Cocoa Beach, FL. She was active in the Highland Park Fire Fighter’s Ladies Auxiliary, and Cancer Pad Sewers, and various charities. She was an avid reader, golfer, loved her friends and family, and especially enjoyed traveling, having covered the US, Caribbean, Central America, and Europe.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ken Griffin (former Cocoa Beach Commissioner) of Cocoa Beach; and children Dennis (Linda) Griffin of Algonac, MI; Darlene Salzman of Viera, FL; and Darby Griffin of Paducah, KY; granddaughters Kori (Tom) Steigerwald, Michelle (Marc) Heikkila, Nicole (Wayne) Walker, and Renee (Jeff) Henderson; 7 great-grandchildren, Luke, Noah, Katelyn, Charlotte, Payton, Nilo, and Ella; and brother Wayne (Ruby) Collins of Cohutta, GA, all who love and miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents F.N. (Newt) and Catherine (Souther) Collins, and many brothers and sisters, who have welcomed her home.
Friends and family are invited to the visitation Friday, August 1, at 10:00 AM and a celebration of her life at 11:00 AM, at Florida Memorial Funeral Home, 5950 S. US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955
