He was a retired Army veteran serving two tours in Korea and one tour in Vietnam. He served as an Air Traffic Controller while in the service.
Born in Central Falls, Rhode Island, he came to Brevard County in 1972 from Ft Stewart, Georgia. He was a member of the DAV, the VFW in Satellite Beach, and worked as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Brevard County for 18 years. He also enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Annette, sons; Dennis (Deborah) of Texas, James, William (Lina), and Mark, all of Florida; daughter, Diane Shearer (Donnie) of Alaska, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, David in 1967 and his granddaughter, Tiffany Irwin.
A Memorial Service were held.
Interment will be at a later date at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
