William (Bill) Donald Douglass, 84, of Orlando, FL, went to be with The Lord on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. Bill was born on November 8, 1932 in West Palm Beach, FL to Helen and Howard Douglass. He graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1952, attended Palm Beach Junior College, and afterwards served 4 years in the United States Air Force as a Radar Technician. Bill spent the next 36 years as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1991. In 1992, he became a school bus driver which allowed him to compliment schedules with his wife Lillie, a special education teacher, until they both retired in 2001. The following years were spent traveling across North America in their motor home; enjoying the beautiful countryside and time with each other. Their first adventure was driving from Florida to Alaska! The life-long friendships and memories made traveling were the most meaningful to both of them.
Family and friends were Bill's joy and delight. He loved the outdoors and remained very active until his later years. Bill joined a slow pitch softball team at 40 and continued playing through age 70. His softball career was highlighted by his team winning the 1991 Senior Softball World Series! Bill also loved to play golf and did so until his recent decline in health. He also enjoyed supporting his beloved Florida Gators.
