Passed away Tuesday,September 30,2014 at Holmes Regional Hospital.

Born July 26,1935, Baltimore, MD to William Henry and Edith Wynne George.

Graduated from The Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. Received a BS degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Maryland and a MS degree in Space Technology from the Florida Institute of Technology.

He worked as an Aeronautical Engineer for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, Chrysler Corporation,and NASA where he retired in 1997.

He served four years in the USMC followed by service in the USNR, NADEP JAX 0474 where he was the Commanding Officer from 1991-1994,retiring as a Captain in October 1994. He served in Korea and the Persian Gulf. He was a member of several engineering and military organizations. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 52 years, Shirley Andersen George whom he met while working at P&WA West Palm Beach, Brother Daniel B. George (Ann)of Williamsburg, VA, Daughter Kathryn L. Riley (Terrence)of Merritt Island, FL, Daughter Elizabeth A. Proeschel (Thomas)of Valrico, FL, Son Andrew W. George (Kristin) of Port St. John, FL, Grandchildren Mary (Katie) and Patricia (Tricia) Riley, Matthew, Caroline, Wendy, and William Proeschel, Jacob and Jack George. Eight nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church, 280 E. Merritt Avenue, Merritt Island, FL with visitation at 10:30 and the Memorial Service at 11:00. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Memory of Thomas W. George.
