Tom was born in Washington, Indiana, one of five children. He attended Purdue University and graduated with distinction as an Electrical Engineer. Tom served three years in the Air Force and was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain in 1958. After leaving the service, Tom began his long and successful career as an application and sales engineer at General Electric in Danville, IL. After moving around for a few years, Tom finally settled in Indian Harbour Beach, FL, in 1965 where he spent the spent the rest of his life. He retired from Gould Inc. in 1992. Every year of his career, he exceeded his quota and won many sales awards, including trips to Hawaii (4 times), the Bahamas and Europe.
Tom’s career was important to him, but his family was always his highest priority. His children and grandchildren and all of their friends knew him as “Poppy.” When he could, he would bring his family along on business trips. He coached his daughters’ swim team and attended as many school and sports events as he could for his girls and his grandchildren.
After retirement, Tom and Jenny enjoyed traveling and golfing across the continent. They cruised in Alaska and drove their Roadtrek motorhome from Florida to places like Nova Scotia, the Grand Canyon and throughout the Midwest.
Memorial services for Tom will be held at the Satellite Beach United Methodist Church, 450 Lee Ave., Satellite Beach, FL. Services will begin at 1:00 PM on September 30th, with a reception immediately following in the Fellowship Hall.
