Dorothy Louise Williams (Susie), aged 73, died peacefully on February 6, 2017 at William Childs Hospice House, after a lengthy illness. Susie was born February 24, 1943, in Melbourne, Florida the daughter of Luther and Ila Richardson.
After completing the 8th grade, Susie became a homemaker and mother of 2 sons, David and Dwayne. She attended the Melbourne Church of the Nazarene since she was a child, where she enjoyed taking care of the children. She was the middle child of 9 and developed her gift of caring by raising her younger siblings and her 2 sons. She enjoyed ceramics, flower arranging, word searches, and adopting abandoned birds and dogs. As her illness progressed, she spent her days “talking to God” and holding up others continually in prayer.
Susie, married the love of her life, Bob on November 1, 1980. The morning of her passing, Bob sang to her “I’ll hold you in my heart, ‘til I can hold you in my arms” and she said her last “I love you” to him. At 9:10, on Monday morning, surrounded by her husband, Pastor Joel, her older sister Marlene, and 2 of her stepdaughters, mid prayer she was ushered into the arms of Jesus.
Susie is survived by her husband, Robert Williams, and 2 sons, David Smeal, and Dwayne Smeal. She also leaves behind her sisters and brothers; Marlene Padgett, Glenn Richardson, Tommy Richardson, Donna Christy, and Lisa Beeman. Susie was loved and will be missed by 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 4 step children, and their spouses, 10 more grandchildren, and 8 more great grandchildren.
There will be a private graveside service for immediate family members at Florida Memorial Gardens, followed by a 4PM memorial service and reception at Melbourne First Church of the Nazarene.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to William Childs Hospice House, or Melbourne First Church of the Nazarene.
