Shirley was born in Jacksonville, Florida to Edward and Julia Elian. Shirley was the older sister to younger brother Edward (Eddie). She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville. Shirley was a Paralegal by profession, but her passion and talent lied in her artistic and creative pursuits. As a young professional she worked at a prestigious law firm, where she met the love of her life, Joel Moss (Joey). After a whirlwind romance Shirley and Joey married, and soon after their precious daughter, Stephanie, was born. A few years later they welcomed their second child, David Stephen, and their family was complete. Her family was her greatest joy and source of pride.
Shirley was effervescent in spirit and personality and was the bright shiny penny in every room she entered. She was an accomplished painter and artist, and enjoyed creating and sharing her passion with friends and family. In her active years she continued working with Joey in his legal practice and dedicated much time to local service organizations. Shirley, with Joey, also shared a passion for travel and other cultures, and with Stephanie and Stephen, visited a great number of countries throughout her lifetime.
Shirley is preceded in death by Julia Elian (Mother), Edward Elian, Sr. (Father), and Edward Elian, Jr. (brother). She is survived by so many friends and family who loved and adored her, but will be especially missed by her children, Stephanie Moss Dandridge and D. Stephen Moss, as well as her two grandchildren, John Michael Dandridge and James Stephen Dandridge.
A visitation will be held at 9:00 am on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 S US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955, with a Celebration of Life beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
