Richard B. Caime

Richard B. Caime, Dick, a man of profound integrity, kindness, and unwavering love for his family, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, in Melbourne, Florida. He was born on March 9, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, to Nicholas and Marianna Caime, and lived a life rich in purpose, dedication, and devotion to those he cherished.

Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane Caime, who left this world on September 18, 2024, after 65 years of marriage. Though there were major medical issues, it is said that one can die of a broken heart, and Dick’s passing certainly reflects the deep bond he shared with Jane. Their love story, which began in Brooklyn on September 20, 1959, was one of enduring partnership, mutual respect, and an unyielding commitment to one another.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Caime; his son, Jim Caime, S.J.; his daughter, Nancy Nelson; his son-in-law, Peter Nelson; and his cherished grandsons, Lucas and Ricky Nelson. Dick also leaves behind a close-knit family that includes his niece, Roseanne Penseiro, and his nephew, Jeffrey Karas. He is also survived by a younger sister and brother, Carrie Avena and Thomas Caime.

A proud alumnus of Xavier High School in New York City, Dick graduated in 1954 before pursuing his passion for engineering at Manhattan College, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1959, followed by a Master’s degree from Brooklyn Polytechnic in 1961. His career in the aerospace and defense industry spanned several decades, culminating in his role as executive vice president at Lockheed Martin, where he was highly respected for his leadership and vision.

Dick was more than just a successful professional; he was a devoted member of his community. A fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, he was also actively involved in St. John the Evangelist Parish and the Air Force Association. His commitment to his faith was unwavering, and he lived out his beliefs through service and generosity.

He had a love for reading, particularly spy novels and political histories. He was a man who cherished friendship and maintained close ties with his high school classmates from Xavier. Dick's hobbies reflected his spirited nature; he was an avid baseball fan, enjoying the sport from his youth through adulthood, while also loving to watch football and golf. He and Jane traveled extensively, both for work and leisure, creating treasured memories together across the globe. His passion for politics, particularly regarding prolife and pro-family issues, demonstrated his deep concern for the welfare of others.

As we remember Dick, we celebrate a life characterized by integrity, authenticity, and an extraordinary ability to forgive. He was the kind of person who always aimed to do the right thing, a guiding light to all who knew him. His legacy of love and generosity will endure in the hearts of his family and friends.

A funeral mass will be held on December 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Viera, Florida.
