Suntree
Regina Cheress Rumbold, 94, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. She was born in New Jersey and lived there until retiring to Suntree in 1986. She was valedictorian of Perth Amboy High School, received a B.S. in Education from the College of New Jersey, and a masters degree from Columbia University. She was a personnel manager at Allstate Insurance Company, and then taught business for many years at Valhalla High School in New York.
Her interests were varied and many, including traveling, classical music, bridge, golfing, gardening, birding, and completing the Sunday NY Times crossword puzzle. She was a lifelong philanthropist, helping many causes and charities, including libraries, nature conservation, and education. In her later years she became an avid Tampa Bay Rays fan, and enjoyed learning all aspects of the game of baseball. She was a member of St. John’s the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, and Teachers Retired in Florida (TRIF).
She was predeceased in 2001 by her loving husband, Russell E. Rumbold. She is survived by her loving sisters, Florence Ryan, of Suntree, and Elenor Siessel, of New Jersey; niece Patricia (William) Sullivan; nephews, Guy Ryan (Anne Gleason), Richard Siessel, Peter (Diana) Siessel, James (Cathleen) Siessel; and sister-in-law, Carol Snowdon. She is also survived by nine great nieces and nephews, a great-great niece and 2 great-great nephews, and many friends.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of flowers, or a donation in Regina’s name to a charity of your choice or the Brevard Symphony Orchestra.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2012 from 3-5pm at Florida Memorial Funeral Home, with a funeral service at 10:00am on Monday, July 2, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
