Pearl Christina Coan

Pearl Christine Hildre Coan, 84, of Merritt Island, FL, went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2014. She was born on February 20, 1930, in Petersburg, North Dakota, and has been a lifelong resident of Brevard County. She is the daughter of the late Martin and Margaret Asbjorson Hildre.

Pearl was a homemaker, bookkeeper, and in retail. In her retirement years, she volunteered her time at her church and at Cape Canaveral Hospital. Pearl enjoyed her puzzles, reading, and loved to play cards and games with friends and family. She traveled to Alaska, various Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Norway, and Sweden), Bahamas, and several places within the United States.

Her greatest joy was her family including her four children, Bill (Beverly) Coan of Titusville, FL, Nancy (Gary) Schack of Winter Haven, FL, Barbara Naylor of Merritt Island, FL, and Kenny (DeAnn) Coan, Jr., of Gladwin, MI.

Pearl was blessed with nine grandchildren, Nichole’, Shawn, Brice, Carrie (Art), Gary Jr., Kelly (Mark), Tiffany (Matthew), Sabrina (Jason), and Kenny III (Jessica). Known as “Gi Gi” to her 12 great grandchildren, Drake, James, Greyson, Colin, Lauren, Claire, Brielle, Cameron, Addyson, Dascher, Fiona, and Easton. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her brothers, Marvin and Pete Hildre. Pearl is preceded in death by her parents, brother Arnie, and sisters Stella, Bertha, and Violet.

Pearl touched the lives of everyone who knew her and put the needs of others first. She had a big heart, full of love, and will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

Services for Pearl will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the Faith Lutheran Church of Merritt Island, 208 E. Merritt Avenue, Merritt Island, Florida 32952. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Memorial Fund in honor of Pearl or to the American Heart Association.
