She was born in Lima, Ohio on Labor Day in 1931 to Mary and Harold Hutchinson. Pat was the third of nine children. In 1949 after graduating from Lima High School, she married the love of her life on March 18, 1950. She said that he stole her heart when he offered to help her decorate for a church function. He was by her side for the next 73 years.
Dad joined the Air Force and quickly put a ring on it so that she wouldn’t even think about being with anyone else. Pat and Ferd started their journey in Texas where she gave birth to her eldest son, Ferd Winget III. In a few years they were moved to Ohio where their second son, Jeff Winget, was born. They next landed in Delaware where their precious daughter, Cindy (Winget) Lieberman, was born.
From there the family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii for three glorious years where Pat fell in love with the island lifestyle. After a year in New Mexico, where Ferd retired, they made their way to Melbourne, Florida which became the forever home to the family.
Pat loved to dance in her younger days, and enjoyed bowling with their good friends Otto and Enid Kroger. The two families (Wingets and Krogers) spent many years together celebrating birthdays, graduations, and going to the beach. Mom loved to picnic and barbeque.
Throughout their time in the Air Force, Pat showed her strength and resilience by raising three wonderful, bright, talented, and kind children (the children wrote this). After their youngest child left home in 1979, the couple focused on community service.
Pat and Ferd volunteered at the St. Paul’s United Methodist (Highland Fellowship) thrift shop for many years. They delivered Meals on Wheels to people less mobile than them. They were always willing to pick up their grandkids after school and their grand dog after doggie day care.
Her family and her faith were the two most important things to her.
She was smart, kind, sometimes stubborn and cantankerous – but she always deeply loved her family. She gave her children many bits of advice, but the two that her daughter has lived by are: “When everything feels bad, wait three days. Everything will be different three days from now” and “God never gives you more than you can handle”.
She will always be remembered for her wicked sense of humor – she loved pulling pranks on her friends and family. She was creative and loved crafts, oil painting, creating stained glass, calligraphy, coloring books, jigsaw puzzles, playing solitaire on her iPad, and studying her Bible.
Pat was predeceased by her father, Harold Hutchinson; mother, Mary Hutchinson; eldest sister, Mary Hutchinson; brothers, Don Hutchinson, Junior Hutchinson and Jim Hutchinson.
She is survived by her husband, Ferd Winget Jr.; brother, Bill Hutchinson; sisters, Betty Taylor, and Sharon Winget (Mark); sons, Ferd Winget III (Debbie), and Jeff Winget (Dolly); daughter, Cindy Lieberman (Susan Jackson); grandsons, Jason Winget (Danielle), Ryan Winget, and Calvin Winget; granddaughters, Tiffany Oxford (Derek), and Megan Winget.
