Mary was born on July 26, 1943 to Louis and LaVonne Mayberry in Anderson, IN. Her brother, Matt, completed the family three years later. Mary grew up in San Bernardino, CA.
In 1967, Mary met Warren Randolph McDonald at work as a secretary on Vandenberg Air Force Base. The young officer asked the guard about the pretty secretary…They married in 1969, going on to have their daughter Susan Kojic (McDonald) in 1972.
With frequent moves in their military life, Mary quickly made each new place feel like home. She had many outlets for her creative talents. She loved to sew (curtains, pillows, clothing,) paint (oils), pick at the guitar, garden (the best tomatoes), and bake (the best cheesecake). Mary volunteered with Red Cross, was at every field trip with Susan, and volunteered at her local church.
She loved all things feminine: butterflies, pink roses, daisies, makeup, shoes, handbags, jewelry- and shopping for all of the above.
Mary was a beautiful lady with a smile that could light up a room and had the best sense of humor. We will miss her greatly.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Louis and LaVonne Mayberry.
She is survived by her husband Randy, daughter Susan, grandson Alex, granddaughter Katie, brother Matt, niece Krista, and nephews Michael and Jason.
A committal ceremony for Mary will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 at 12:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
