OBITUARY
Mary Louise Voss Chandler, 92, of Rockledge, FL, died September 1, 2014, in Sevierville, TN. Born June 30, 1922, in Galion, Ohio; daughter of the late John H. and Christina Zeller Voss. Her husband of 55 years, Clement F. (Clem) Chandler, preceded her in death along with her brother, John Carl Voss. Survivors, all of whom she dearly loved: daughter, Mary Ann (Howard) Balthaser of Sevierville, TN; son, Gary (Kathryn) Chandler of Houston, TX; four grandchildren—Mary Kathryn Balthaser of Louisville, KY, Haui (Amy Hadley) Balthaser of Winter Springs, FL, Dr. Beth Chandler (James) Cahill of Harrisonburg, VA, Brian (Susan) Chandler of Temple, TX; and four great-grandchildren—Aidan and Colin Cahill, Patrick Chandler and arriving soon Owen Chandler, and Ella Hadley.
Mary Lou came to Brevard County in 1948, from Galion, OH. She was Secretary of the American Automobile Association and Executive Secretary at the North Electric Manufacturing Co., a subsidiary of ITT. In Cocoa-Rockledge area she was Assistant Personnel Manager at Sears, a realtor, and a partner with her husband C.F. Chandler in residential-building businesses.
As a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rockledge she was always very active with volunteer work, including St. Mary’s School, Altar Society and religious articles shop, and Helping Hands. She was a member of the Founders Circle of The Cocoa-Rockledge Garden Club, and Honorary Ambassador for Cocoa Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (CBACC). She was an antique collector and dealer, a quilter, and an artist in various media, her favorite being china painting.
To her many friends she will be remembered for her vibrant personality and her great love and caring for people. Mary Lou was affectionately known as “Nina” to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends and relatives.
A Rosary service will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by Visitation with friends from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 12th at Life Event Center at Florida Memorial. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rockledge, on Saturday, September 13th at 11 a.m. with burial immediately following at Florida Memorial Gardens of Rockledge. A Celebration of Life hosted by devoted friends will be held at the Life Event Center at the conclusion of services.
