Mark Wylie McKellar, 59, an amazing husband, father and brother passed away Friday, February 5th, 2016. Mark spent his childhood living in Greenlawn, NY, and attended college in Rhode Island, making it his home until 1998, when his wife Leslie and sons Douglas and Trevor moved to Melbourne Beach.
Mark’s exuberance for life began in his youth and never faded until his passing. He was loved deeply by all who had the pleasure of seeing his jubilant smile and more likely, hysterical smirk. During his life he attained the rank of Eagle Scout, later passing his passion of scouting to his sons, whom would later achieve the same scout rank. All three had the unique experience of the Philmont Ranch adventure. His community was blessed by his actions as an active volunteer fire fighter in both Rhode Island and here in Florida. Mark’s other passions included attending New England Patriots football games, Boston Red Sox Baseball and NASCAR races with sons, Trevor and Douglas.
Mark is survived by his wife Leslie of more than 35 years, son Trevor, mother Ruth, brother Todd, niece Katie and nephew Ryan, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Born on April 27, 1956 in Dobbs Ferry, NY to Robert W. and Ruth E. McKellar. He was raised in the tiny hamlet of Greenlawn on Long Island, NY. Mark worked as a general building contractor and was the owner of Mark W. McKellar Construction in Warren, RI for 25 years until his family moved to Florida more than 18 years ago.
Mark is predeceased by his father, Robert and son, Douglas, and beloved dog, Cinder.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Florida Memorial Gardens Life Event Center, 5950 South US Hwy. 1, Rockledge, FL followed by a reception immediately after. The family requests that guests in attendance dress in casual attire.
