Margie Smith, 103, of Melbourne, FL, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories. Born on February 5, 1922, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Margie was the eldest of thirteen children born to Harvey and Ida Cochran.
A devoted wife, Margie, was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Allen C. Smith, a prominent realtor in Brevard County, FL. Following in his footsteps, Margie built a successful career as a realtor, serving Brevard County for 24 years with dedication, integrity and passion. She was deeply involved in her community, always offering kindness and support to those around her.
Margie lived a rich and fulfilling life. She found joy in fishing, playing cards, and traveling, but her greatest passion was in the kitchen. She loved cooking and baking, always filling her home with the comforting aroma of homemade meals. Her legendary peanut butter pie was a family favorite and will forever be remembered as the best in the world.
She is survived by her loving children: Dr. Kenneth Smith (Robin), Carolyn Sue Lowe, Linda Jean Martin, and David Kyle Smith (Carmen). She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren and leaves behind many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Margie is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Her remarkable 103-year journey will be honored with a visitation on April 1st at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, FL. Family visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a visitation for friends at 1:30 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will begin at 2:00 p.m.
Margie’s generous spirit, strength, and unwavering love for her family and community will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
