Margaret Anne McLaughlin

Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her husband, William. Dear mother to Deirdre Carroll (Robert) of Melbourne, William J (Kimberly) of Atlanta, and Jeanne McLaughlin of Melbourne. Beloved Gigi to Sean, Tara, Will, Quinn, and Hannah. Predeceased by her loving parents John and Helen McLaughlin, brother James and George and sister Catherine Radigan.

Margaret was born in Manhattan, NY, lived in Rockland County, NY and then moved with her family to Melbourne, FL in 1990. While college opportunities were not available to her immediately, she pursued her degrees while raising her young children. While living in New York, Margaret graduated from Dominican College with a Bachelor of Arts and Iona College with a Master of Science in Education. After settling in Florida, she became an Associate Professor at Brevard Community College (Eastern Florida State College) and Florida Tech. Her experience led her to encourage her children and grandchildren to aim high in their educational pursuits.

Margaret’s parents emigrated from Scotland in the 1930s, making her and her siblings first generation Americans. She loved writing and published three historical fictional novels on her Scottish and Irish heritage. Margaret was deeply patriotic and traveled extensively throughout the continental United States and Alaska and Hawaii. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and they visited Ireland and Scotland several times along with many other European countries.

Always the first one on the dance floor and often the last to leave, Margaret was the life of the party.

Friends and family will be received at Life Events Center at Florida Memorial (5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL) on Tuesday November 29, 2022, from 5 pm to 8 pm. A celebration of Life will occur Wednesday November 30, 2022, at 11am at Ascension Catholic Church (2950 North Harbor City Boulevard, Melbourne, FL). Margaret will be laid to rest in Florida Memorial Gardens (5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL).
