I am Licia's son, John. Forty-five years ago I had just completed infantry training at Fort Polk LA. I was to report to Fort Benning for additional training. As luck would have it, the Army instead sent me to to Fort Knox. I called Luciana as soon as I knew of the travel change. 
A couple of days into training I was to meet Luciana and Jay for dinner. I was on KP and the mess Sgt had me spit-shine his pots and pans. I told him I needed to meet my Aunt and Uncle for dinner. The Sgt was unfazed. After asking who they  were, he said. "Lucy and Jay? Why didn't you tell me? I'm playing cards with them tomorrow night! Go. Get out of here and have dinner!". I had a great time with Luciana and Jay. It meant a lot to me to spend time with Aunt Lucy and Jay prior to going overseas. At points in my life I've met people who made a difference in the way I view the world. Aunt Lucy and Jay made a difference.

Lucy was my friend.  She welcomed the birth of each of my grandchildren with a beautiful knitted sweater and cap made with her own hands.  When my mother visited the US from Cuba in 1983 I introduced her to Lucy.  Both got along wonderfully, my mother speaking only Spanish and Lucy Italian.  Somehow they managed to understand each other perfectly.  We both loved to listen to Luciano Pavarotti and all the beautiful songs he performed like "O Sole Mio," "Torna Sorrento," and many others.  After watching him on tv on the occasion of a performance we'd call each other up and sing the songs he performed to each other over the phone.  I love you Lucy,, and ciao until we meet again.

Hope you're there with Jay now. I'll always remember the great fun after Sunday dinners & playing cards with Lida & I.  Now that you are in heaven with Lida you can have a laugh at my expense about the bathroom incident when Lida & I lived on Poe Ave many, many years ago, I'm sure the whole neighborhood heard your scream & the kids still bring it up once in awhile. May you rest peacefully with family.

I think back fondly of the time Luciana lived with us while uncle Jay was over seas. Remember Fluffy that dog was the love of her life! I love that me and my sister Anna have her Gardening gene. Rest in peace Love Barbara

Aunt Luciana you are finally at peace. You have alot of catching up to do with Uncle Jay. I have fond memories of the times I spent in Georgia with you and Uncle Jay. I've always thought of you as a second mother. Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever. Love Always, Cindy & Roger

I had the pleasure of meeting Jay and Lucy when our family began attending RUMC so many years ago.  Both became instant friends and Mom delighted in sharing with Lucy tales of the Old Country, her's Italy, Mom's Spain and Cuba.  She helped Mom and Dad a great deal when it came time to plan their trip to Italy; and afterwards had a great time regaling her with stories of what a wonderful time they had, and all the things they had experienced, which Lucy knew so well.   She was a lady through and through and full of grace and kindness.  I know she is with Jay now having a great time in Heaven.

Lucy was a sweet woman and my favorite aunt when I was thirteen I went and stayed with Lucy and Jay when they lived in Georgia Jay was away doing army stuff so I was gonna teach Lucy how to drive a car well by the time we got done knocking down about six mail boxes are driving days were over. I still laughing about it to this day I'm going to miss her very much rip Lucy I love u with all my heart
