He attended Pittsburg Institute of Aeronautics and Johns Hopkins University. Leonard worked for GDI Inc., Soroban Engineering Inc., and Documentation/STK Corp as a mechanical engineer from 1962 until he retired in 1991. He had 9 mechanical engineering patents, one of which included in-flight refueling.
Leonard was very active with his church, First United Methodist of Melbourne, and went to the Dominican Republic on 6 mission trips. He was an avid golfer. Leonard was a staunch Gator fan.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Ward and son, Lenny Ward.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Marvel Livingston Ward; daughter, Vickie(Bill) Benjamin of Austin, TX; step-son, Rick(Janet) Livingston of Oviedo, FL and step-daughter, Lori(Bill) Berglund of Duluth, MN; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to William Childs Hospice House or to First United Methodist Church of Melbourne.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 3PM at First United Methodist Church of Melbourne.
