John “Jack” Thomas Kenney Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Viera, Florida at 81. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 58 years, Sherry; his beloved son, Jud (and wife Chantal) and two wonderful grandchildren Alexia and Tristan. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother James (and wife Hilly), nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Jack was born on April 23, 1943, in Alexandria, Virginia to Martha and John Kenney. He grew up there and in Augusta, Georgia where he met and married Sherry. His career took the family to several states including a stay of 25 years in the Atlanta area. In 2019 they settled in Viera to enjoy their retirement.
Although his first and deepest love was for his family, Jack had a passion for golf starting as early as age 15. He was proud to have been a gallery guard at the Masters Tournament while in high school. He often played in charity tournaments and, following his retirement, spent almost every day playing golf with his friends in the Eagles group.
Jack’s presence in the lives of his loved ones was a blessing and he will be missed forever. He was an optimist; a kind and generous man. He wanted peace for our country and for the world. A memorial is being planned for the spring of 2025. In the meantime, donations in his name will be welcomed by local animal shelters.
