Jeanette C. Jatz was born on May 28, 1929 in Easley, South Carolina. She was the only child of Hagood and IIabe Cooper. Upon graduation from Easley High School, she attended secretarial school and went to work in Greenville, SC. She met her future husband Norman at the USO in Greenville. They married on July 31, 1954 and were happily married for 59 wonderful years. During their early years, she was involved with the Community Theatre at Clemson College and appeared in several productions. Over the years, she felt her best productions were the births of her four beautiful children, Lynn, Jeanne, Sharon and David. Her husband's job moved them from South Carolina to North Carolina to Texas and finally to Florida where she lived the rest of her life.
In the 70s, she was involved with the Eau Gallie Women's Club and served as the President of the organization. She was an active member for many years. Jeanette went to work for NASA as an executive secretary to the Test Director at the Launch Control Center. She loved her job being involved in the space shuttle program and personally knew many of the astronauts and their families. She retired in May 1990. Jeanette and Norman enjoyed retirement for many years before his death in July 2013. Jeanette was an active member of Advent Lutheran Church. She always enjoyed going out with the "lunch bunch" from church, playing Bunko with close friends and working the puzzles in the daily newspaper with Norman. She was always loving and supportive to all her children and grandchildren and loved celebrating special occasions with her family. Anyone who met Jeanette loved her and knew what a kind and wonderful person she was.
Jeanette leaves behind four children, Lynn Newman, Jeanne Salituri and husband Jeff, Sharon Sherwood and husband Wayne, David Jatz and wife Camille. Eight grandchildren Chris and wife Nancy, Michael, Sarah and husband Michael, Melissa, Jason, Nathan, Jessica and Derek and five great-grands, Max, Gwen, Jack, Abigail and Sadie.
