Janice Lee Puckett

9:23pm on Sunday, August 6th, 2017 at the Kindred Hospital in Melbourne; surrounded by those that

loved her.

Born April 4th, 1944 in Havre De Grace, Maryland, Janice was the daughter of the late Lula Marie Bent

and Raymond N. Bent. She married Chester L. Puckett, Sr. in 1961 then moved to Rockledge, Florida in

1978. She retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground in 1977, then when moving to Florida became a

homemaker. She enjoyed reading, watching movies with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren,

and doing crafts. She was a member of The First Baptist Church in Merritt Island for many years and

enjoyed singing in the choir.

Janice is survived by her Brother, Raymond E. Bent (Sandy) of Churchville, Maryland, Daughter, Laura M.

Smith (James Sr.), Son, Chester L. Puckett Jr (Janna), Niece, Vanessa Bent, Nephew, Jason Bent,

Grandchildren, Heather, Kristina, Shelby, James Jr, Elizabeth, Madison, and her seven greatgrandchildren.

Her children remember her as always being there for them and showing them how to be strong during

life's struggles. She was their Hero. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family,

her faith, and the special times they shared together. She was adamant about teaching her

grandchildren how to show others compassion and love.

Janice's last years were spent in a nursing home where she loved to share prayers and stories of her

family. She made lasting friends and will be missed greatly by all that she touched.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for August 26, 2017 at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial in

Rockledge, Florida at 2pm. Clergy, Hoges Viccellio, will officiate the ceremony.
