James was born in Fitzpatrick, W. Va., on August 17, 1931, and moved from Beckley, W. Va. to Brevard County in 1958.
James was a Navy Veteran, working as an aviation electronic technician in blimps during the Korean War, as they traveled along the coast of Florida to Cuba. His love for Florida brought him and his wife Peggy back in 1958 to live and raise his family. James was a tile setter during the years of Brevard’s growing economy.
After retirement, James loved doing yard work and taking care of his rose garden.
James was preceded in death by his wife Peggy DeHart, the love of his life; he said he had a date with her the day he passed. James is survived by his son Curtis DeHart, and daughter Pamela (Roger) Baxter, granddaughters Jennifer and Sheree Baxter, brother McRay (JoAnn) DeHart, and loving extended family Judy Thornquest and Candy Miller.
He was the son of the late Clyde and Blanche DeHart. He was also preceded in death by brother Bernard DeHart, and sisters Betty Sublett and Patricia Brammer.
A private service will be held for the family and a celebration of life will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to a charity of your choice or the William Child Hospice House.
