Harry A Zeller 84 of Rockledge went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 16, 2015. He was born in Lebanon County, Heidelberg Township, Pennsylvania on March 24, 1931 the son of Alvin K Zeller and Naomi Keener Zeller. He had also 6 sisters and four brothers (plus one adopted) for an even dozen. They grew up on a farm with dairy, hogs, planting crops, and in particular guinea hens!
Harry was a graduate of the class of 1949 Heidelberg Township High School (where he played basketball) and then enlisted in the Army. He was in the Signal Corp and served in Korea and Okinawa. He was an expert in Carbine. After his active service, he also was in the Reserves.
When harry returned from his military service back to Penn., he worked for Suchard Chocolate Company (a sweet affair!) in Lititz. Then he began working at RCA. This was where he met Millie, and they were married June 16, 1959. He also was a member of the Masonic Order there and is still a lifetime member of the Manheim Lodge, and also the American Legion in Penn. Then, Harry worked for many years as a State Farm agent in Lititz, Pennsylvania. He continued that profession which he loved when they moved to Palm Bay, Fl (the Bermuda Walk section) in the late 1980’s. Then in 1994 they built their house in Heron’s Landing in Viera, Fl where he lived the last 22 years of his life. During this time, in connection with his work for State Farm, they basically “traveled the world” from China, to Europe, to Hawaii, to Alaska, and pretty well everything in between. Millie passed away in 2006 after 47 years of marriage. After that, Harry continued to love work and so was employed at the Viera Walmart since its opening. He worked in the electronics department and then also as greeter and cashier up until a few months ago. When asked why he would still work, he almost became indignant and said “”What would I DO if I didn’t work?”
Harry was a lifelong Lutheran (baptized in St. Luke Schaefferstown, PA), and he always was involved in the choir with his love of singing and also as usher. He was very involved in the ministry work at Advent Lutheran on Wickham Rd. in Melbourne for many years and he and Millie occasionally attended Faith Viera Lutheran Church right next door when it opened.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and is survived by his brother, Robert Zeller; his sisters, Joan Mauser, Berenice Dodd, Ruth Ford and Sylvia Hoffman; his step-son, Dennis Hevener and Step-daughter Wanda Hevener; his niece, Karen Taylor and his nephew, James Harper and his friend and caregiver Michele Archie.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Norman; brother Curtis; sister Anna Mae, his brother Warren, his brother John, and sister Betty. Internment at Florida Memorial Gardens.
There will be a visitation from 10-11am on Saturday, July 25 held at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial followed by a Celebration of his Life at 11am. Entombment will take place at Florida Memorial Gardens.
