MELBOURNE
Edwin Nelson Rabine passed away on August 29th, 2014 from complications from his heart surgery last year. Edwin was a dedicated husband for 60 years to his wife Shannon Rose Rabine, who passed away two years ago. He was a great father to his three sons; George (Brenda) of Satellite Beach, Robert of Lynn Haven, FL and Scott (Julie) of Lynn Haven, Fl. A happy grandfather to five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a loving brother to Eugene Rabine living in Germany and his sister Ramona Mitchell of Houston Texas.
Edwin was born in Trent, South Dakota on January 18, 1931 to George Harold Rabine and Dolly Arletta Catract Rabine where he completed his young education in North and South Dakota. Joined the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Biloxi Mississippi at Keesler AFB where he met and married Shannon Rose Bosarge in 1952 and later served in the Korean Conflict in Japan at the Hq Japan Air Defense Force.
In 1955 Edwin took his GI bill and attended Louisiana State University where he achieved his Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering Degree in 1959 and took his first step into the world of corporate life as a Design Engineer with General Dynamics on the B58 program in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1962 Edwin continued his move further from the cold by moving to Indialantic, FL to work for Radiation Inc., now know as Harris Corporation in Palm Bay.
He had a great career with Harris as a Program Manager for many of their overseas Earth Station and communication projects in places such as Asmara Ethiopia, Khartoum Sudan, Logos Nigeria, and Jakarta Indonesia, allowing him his family to see and experience the world as very few families can.
In 1983 he took a new adventure again and left Harris and went to work in Muscat Oman for Waleed Commutations as Deputy General Manager for three years.
In 1986 joined Engineering and Technical Services, Inc. of Melbourne, FL. Served as the Vice President of Special projects and in 1991 became part owner and Director of Telecommunications Support Services Inc. of Melbourne where he continued to work until his latest health issues last year.
In his later years he built a nice home outside of Guadalajara Mexico on Lake Chapala were and he and Shannon would spend many months there allowing many of their friends and family to come visit and enjoy the area.
The service and Interment will be at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 S US Highway 1,Rockledge, and Fl. 32955. The calling hours are from 10 am to the time of service at 11am and interment will be at 12 noon with a reception to follow at the Life Center on Thursday September 4th, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation of your choice
