Edna F. Johnson

Edna was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina to the proud parents of Charlie and Mary Petteway. From a young age, she radiated warmth and kindness. She also exemplified qualities of compassion, generosity, and grace, traits that would define her life.

Attending barber college in Ashville, North Carolina, Edna later married in 1961, and divorced in 1987. That union was blessed to produce one daughter and one son. After dedicating many years to various professional roles, Edna concluded her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) upon retirement in Onslow County, North Carolina.

Edna will be lovingly cherished for her infectious laugh. She found solace and strength in her faith, and her spiritual conviction was a source of inspiration to others. Her passing has created a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her legacy will forever remain a beacon of love and kindness.

Edna is survived by her loving children, Evelverlon (Vel) and Eric Johnson; daughter-n-law Misty Johnson; one grandchild, Emani Nakya Johnson; and one sister Thelma Petteway. She is preceded in death by her former husband, Earl W. Johnson, and her siblings Harrison, Valduster, Irene (Pickett), and Wiley Charles Petteway. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Friends and family will be received at Florida Memorial Gardens and Life Center, at 5950 S US Hwy 1, Rockledge, Florida 32955, on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Visitation will take place 1-2:00 pm at Life Event Center at Florida Memorial. The funeral service will occur 2-3:00 pm., with the burial to follow at 3:00 pm.
