Ed will be remembered by his loving wife, Shirley, children Dave (Harriet), Diana and Jeff (Paula) and grandchildren Coleman, Logan, Katelyn and Kyle.
Colonel Ed Baker, United States Marine Corps, graduated from Ada High School in 1953 and Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in 1957. Following graduation from The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia he attended flight training and received his Naval Aviator wings in August 1959. Having served his Country for 30 years in the Marine Corps his tours were numerous. His highlights include several tours in Vietnam, Commanding Officer of VMA-331 “Bumble Bees”, Commanding Officer of Marine Wing Support Group-37 and Commanding Officer Marine Aircraft Group-13. Some of the awards this Marine holds are the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with numeral 33 and the Navy Commendation Medal.
When not guarding our Country, Ed had numerous hobbies and passions. He was an avid furniture maker having won numerous awards at county fairs, played softball well into his 70’s, on numerous occasions his golf score was lower than his age, enjoyed skiing and tennis, loved to fish and camp, especially the times he spent on horse back in the mountains. Ed also loved watching his grandkids play sports.
On Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 09:30 there will be Visitation followed by a Service at 10:30 at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial Gardens (5950 US 1, Rockledge, FL 32955). A Celebration of Life for friends and family will take place at the Indian River At Ease Club on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 11:30. Burial Services will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery (5525 US 1, Mims, FL 32754) on March 26, 2024 at 12:30.
