Don Clark Skinner, 88, born in Rockford, Illinois resided in Unicoi, Tennessee since 2005 passed away peacefully at home on July 23, 2018. Prior to living in Unicoi, Don spent the majority of his life in Merritt Island, Florida where he enjoyed a 40 year career working in the Aerospace industry on the Saturn V, Altas Centaur and Titan Centaur Programs. Don began his career in the Air Force where he worked as a Flight Engineer on B-29’s. Don’s life revolved around flying as his greatest love was being a pilot. He built a Pitts Special experimental aircraft in his garage. This was his pride and joy which he received National recognition for at the Oshkosh EAA fly-in. Those that lived in our area in the seventy’s will fondly remember him buzzing the neighborhood prior to putting on an aerobatic show for all to see.
Don is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ochoa Skinner, Unicoi, TN, 3 children, Richard (Linda) Skinner of Cocoa, FL, Don (Theresa) Skinner, Jr. and Liz (Steven) Iapicco of Merritt Island. Stepson, Dennis Bowman II (Beth) of Bluff City, TN and stepdaughter, Abigail (Jason) Abram of Piney Flats, TN. Grandchildren Jenny (Ralph) Rathburn, Heather Skinner, Jonathan (Josephine) Skinner, Joel (Rachel) Skinner, Josh Skinner, Joy (Matt) Skinner, Karla (Kai) Armstrong and Garrett (Amanda) Iapicco. Step-grandson Isaac James Abram and step-granddaughter Isabella Jade Abram and six great-grandchildren.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, July 27th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Florida. A private graveside service is planned for Saturday, July 28th.
