Claude Sigmundt Powell, Jr., 78, of Melbourne, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 at William Childs Hospice House. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, and came back to Brevard County in 1973.
Claude was a retired veteran of the USAF and was stationed in England, Africa, Shemya Alaska, and other bases during his 20 year career; retired Orthopedic Technician of Health First; and at Holmes Regional Medical Center and Palm Bay Hospital for over 22 years.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Morey Powell; sons, Richard Powell and Christopher Powell; step-daughter, Carol Ward; daughter in law, Sonia Powell; sisters, Nancy Thompson, Patricia Ashton and Berenice Wright; step-son, Stuart Morey; step-daughters, Roberta Hall and Rhonda Rolfe; grandchildren, Patricia Wendt, PJ Ward, Timothy Shubert. Stacy Tolliver, Lori Hall, Kelly Mortero, Shaun Morey, Heidi Litchfield, Darik Rolfe and Ronald Darby; fifteen great-grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews.
Claude was predeceased by his father, Claude S. Powell, Sr.; mother, Genevieve Chorian; step-father, James Wright, Sr.; brother, James Wright, Jr.; and late wife, Ruth Powell.
