Charles Andrew Robinson, Sr.

Charles Andrew Robinson, Sr. passed away peacefully at Cape Canaveral Hospital on Wednesday, July 10th at the age of 91. Charlie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janice, his daughter Kim and his son Chuck. He will be remembered with love by his three grandchildren Reed, Joe and Anna.

Charlie was born in Lancaster, South Carolina and raised at the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home in Greenwood, South Carolina. While growing up, he was an outstanding athlete, exceling in baseball and football. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina and served in the US Army where he was stationed in Korea and Japan. After returning stateside, he taught Science and coached high school sports in Leesburg, FL until switching to a career in Commercial Insurance where he worked for more than 30 years.

His community was important to him and he served as the President of the Kiwanis Club in 1976 -77 as well as the President of the Central Brevard Association of Insurance Agents from 1981-82. He went on to hold the office of President for the Independent Insurance Agents of South Brevard County in 1986-87.

Charlie enjoyed fishing, reading, coaching his son’s sports teams and attending his church, First Baptist Church of Merritt Island where he served as a Deacon beginning in 2008. He was also a regular blood donor and was honored by the Central Florida Blood Bank for his ongoing donations. His first love however, was his family along with growing his beautiful orchids.

Friends and Family will be received at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, FL on Friday, July 19th beginning at 9:30am. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 10:00 and for those who wish to attend, there will be a graveside service at 10:30. A luncheon will be served at 11:00.
