Charles is survived by his daughter Karan Norris-Buck (Jeffrey Buck), 3 brothers and 1 sister, several nieces and nephews, 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild. He is predeceased by his wife, Lillie Jane Norris, son Derek Norris, daughter Kimberly Cummings, and his grandson Cameron Buck, as well as two older brothers.
Born in Bolingbroke, GA, Chuck was then raised in Leesburg, FL, joined the Marines after High School graduation, and returned to FL. After meeting and marrying Jane, he took a job “downrange” on Eleuthera island in the Bahamas to begin his career with Pan American World Airways, while also starting a family.
Chuck held onto their homes in Governors Harbor another 30 years after leaving that job, and he and Jane returned to the island many many times over the following years. Charles, affectionately known as “the original'' Chuck Norris, was very well known and well liked by the island residents, for his kindness and generosity, always lending a helping hand to those in need, whether it be food, clothing, school supplies, or sporting equipment.
He was quite the celebrity on Eleuthera, and it seemed everyone that knew him loved him from one end of the island to the other. Both Chuck and Jane enjoyed walking the pink sand beaches of Eleuthera for the rest of their lives, as long as they could still return there, collecting shells, fishing floats, bottles, some with notes to which he would respond, and discovering various other treasures.
Chuck was quite the storyteller, he had so many that the family started giving them numbers, when he started telling the story that we all had heard 100 times, we would say “Here we go again, story 101”.
He was loved, lived a long adventurous life, had countless friends, threw epic themed parties, will be sorely missed, and his stories will live on forever.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 20th at 11:00 at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 S. US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks his loved ones to do a random act of kindness for someone in need, in memory of Chuck’s good nature.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.FloridaMemorialFH-Gardens.com for the Norris family.
