Bonnie Elaine Bonnell passed away at the age of 85 on September 23, 2024, at Kindred Hospital, Melbourne, FL. She was born on December 7, 1938, in Macon, Mississippi, to the late Myrtle J. and Frank T. Henley. She was a 1956 graduate of Jackson (AL) High School, received a BS in Education from Montevallo (AL) College followed by a Masters in Early Childhood Education from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL.
Bonnie taught school in Oklahoma City , OK, and acquired her Doctorate from The University of Oklahoma before her retirement in 1994.
She valued & pursued education, but Bonnie also had a passion for ballroom dancing which was enhanced with her move to Melbourne, FL, in 1996.
She was predeceased by her life & dance partner of 37+years, Al Sholl.
She is survived by son, William Bradley Bonnell (Tammy) and grandchildren, Aaron Bonnell, Caleb Bonnell, Jacob Bonnell; her sister Frances Henley Erickson (Mike), niece Kristen Powers (Shannon), nephew Ryan Erickson (Jessie); grand nieces Meghan Shortt, Gwen Erickson; and grand nephews T.J. Shortt , Jacob Shortt, Austin Miller, Barrett Erickson. Bonnie got to say a special goodbye to her little dog, Milo, and she was happy that he was already being lovingly cared for by her dear friend, Emily.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to a church or charity of your choice.
A graveside service for Bonnie will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 US-1, Rockledge, FL 32955.
