Born 25 October 1935, in Piggott, Arkansas, the son of the late Andrew Edward Wheeler and Margaret (Wilford) Wheeler.
He was united in marriage to Jeanine Marie Andree' Decaux, le Samedi 19 April 1958 par Etienne Lacomb, Pasteur, 'a Laon, France (Eglise Reformee' de France).
He served in the U.S. Air Force and upon completion of his tour of duty enrolled in the University of Arkansas, graduating in 1961 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He moved his family to Florida upon graduation and was employed with NASA where he served for more than 35 years. He was involved with many projects in his years at NASA in the Electrical and Software Engineering Disciplines. He accomplished post graduate work at the Florida Institute of Technology.
He was a founding member and active supporter of the Rockledge United Methodist Church. He taught Sunday School at Suntree United Methodist Church. He was active with the Boy Scouts and was presented with their Silver Beaver Award for a lifetime of service. He actively volunteered his time to support a number of charitable organizations and events. The St. Mary's Fair, building homes for the poor, and helping those in need throughout the Central Brevard County area.
He always had a quick smile and a kind word for everyone as a guiding light for family and friends. Teaching grandchildren how to drive, fixing most anything, and offering good advice and words of wisdom to all who came across his path. Many fond memories of him and his service and kindness to others throughout his life fill our hearts and minds as he moves on from this life.
He was an active outdoorsman and craftsman who enjoyed enjoyed innumerable activities. hiking the Appalachian Trail, boating, fishing, hunting, woodworking, leather working, knife building, and many hobbies and interests. He most enjoyed sharing his talents and encouraging others to be the best that they can be.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanine, brother Thomas Wheeler, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, sister Linda Massie, of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, sister-in-law Germaine Decaux, of Laon, France, three sons, Andrew, Phillip, and Claude, Phil's wife Ronda, Claude's wife, Donna and Friends Debra, And Nancy. Grandchildren, Alisha, April, Ashley, Phillip, Christopher, Crystal, Bill, and 14 great grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Rockledge Untied Methodist Church at 11:00 am Saturday 27 June. The Reverend Ted Wood officiating. The Internment Service will be at Florida Memorial Gardens at 2:00 pm.
