Terry Hahlen

Terry Hahlen, 78, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on January 12, 2024. She was born in Coalville, UT in 1945 to William and Carol Olson. She grew up, attended school, and met her husband John in Dubuque, IA. They relocated to Rockford, IL where their family grew to include their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Terry retired from OBGYN, Rockford, IL. She loved dogs and enjoyed many dog related activities including training and watching her husband and son race sled dogs. Kids were her other passion. She and John were licensed foster parents and over the years opened their home to several foster children. She also volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America, where she was able to actively share her grandson's scouting experience. Terry also loved to read. It was nothing for her to sit with a good book and read it from start to finish in one sitting.

Terry is preceded in death by her father and mother, William and Carol Olson, and one sister. She is survived by her loving husband on 56 years, John; her children Stacy (Steve) Dietz, Shannan, Teddy (Natalie) and Eric Leschner; her grandchildren Stephen (Josie Sipe), Jordyn, Kendyl, Pressley, Ken and Jonathan; her great-grandchildren Brantley Hahlen, Tyler Sipe and Charlotte Sipe; and her remaining siblings, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at DaVita Forest City and St. Anthony Hospital for their care.

She was loved beyond measure and will be greatly missed.

Per Terry's request, there will be no service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Terry's honor to a charity of your choice.
