Sam was born on June 27, 1940 in Clinchfield, Virginia to his parents, Sam "Sofokles" K. and Lettie Sutherland. Sam moved to Rockford in the 1950's and there he met Imogene Willard and married her in 1961. Together they started a family that would grow and give him great pride throughout his life. Sam worked for various machine companies, he was often working with his brothers at their business B&H auto salvage and he retired from Rockford Powertrain. Sam also had his own business Ledakis Screw Company which was named to honor his Cretan roots. If you knew Sam then you knew he was Greek, he was proud of his families roots and enjoyed his visits there. After retiring he moved to Florida and worked while enjoying the warm weather. He was also an avid Harley Davidson lover. But nothing made him happier then his grandkids and great grandkids.
Sam is survived by his children, Pennie (Todd) Tasche, Patty (William) Coan, Paul (Brenda) Brown and Pam (Joe) Lamb; and his grandchildren Melissa (Jim) Neblock, Serenity (Joe) Almond, Willie Lamb, Cheri Lamb, Malena Coan, Laci and Levi Brown and 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his ex wife, his parents and 13 siblings.
Sam will be memorialized on July 11, 2019 at noon with service at 2pm at Advantage Funeral Home and will be buried immediately after at Willwood Cemetery.
