Rita A. Carter, 60, of Rockford, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016. Born on April 16, 1956 in Rockford, IL. Daughter of Albert O. and Marion J. (Jenkins) Gantz. Married Andrew L. Carter on July 30, 1977. He predeceased her on August 15, 2007. Together they raised two children. Her pride and joy were her children and her grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, making crafts and reading. She loved to go shopping and have lunch dates with her sister. She loved to watch Dr. Oz and would pass along things she had learned from the show. She volunteered to Grace Lutheran Church whenever she could. She had a kind heart and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include children, Nicholas (Cassandra) Carter and Samantha Carter; grandchildren, Liam, Allison and Annabelle; siblings, Donald Gantz, Maribeth (David) Manigold, James Gantz; mother-in-law, Betty Greenlee; brother-in-law, Allen (Bonnie) Carter, sister-in-law, Cindy (Jim) Nelson and Linda (Dan) Fleming; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband; parents; siblings, Donna Huber and Randy Gantz; father-in-law, Gerald Carter and Roger Greenlee.
