Maxine Sawyer, 89, passed away October 6, 2020. Maxine was born in Mason, Wisconsin on November 16, 1930 to Herbert and Margaret Nystrom. In 1948 she graduated from Ashland High School. Later she met the love of her life Ansel Sawyer and they married in 1957. After working for Twin Ports Grocery for over 20 years she retired. Maxine was extremely involved in her community, from helping at church to being a part of the VFW Auxiliary in Gordon, Wisconsin; she always stayed active and made sure she was helping others. Her greatest passion was singing with the Sweet Adelines, in which she was able to travel to England and compete.
Maxine is survived by her son, Thomas (Deidra) Sawyer; grandchildren, Nicholas Shook, Casey (Jarrett) Kimberly, and Erin (Reed Sjostrom) Sawyer; great grandchildren, Nicolas Shook, Anthony Shook, Giovanni Shook, Ashton Kimberly, Christian Kimberly, and Ansel Sjostrom; siblings, Lois Cleveland and Joan Koch. Preceded in death by her husband, Ansel Sawyer; parents, Herbert and Margaret Nystrom; and many siblings.
A Celebration of Life will take place on a future date.
