John Potts, loving husband, father, and Poppy, 76 of Loves Park, passed away on December 14, 2024, at home after a long illness. Born in Rochelle, Il . April 1, 1948, son of Jack and Isabel Potts. Graduated from Guilford High School in 1967. John served in the Army Reserve for six years.
John owned and operated Marden Distributor’s on Broadway for 33 years. As a successful BF Goodrich Dealer, he was awarded several pinnacle trips and traveled the world with his wife Sue. After selling Marden’s, he retired for a brief time and started his second career as head of the Maintenance Department for Emery Air. John was always available and willing to help anyone in need no matter how big or small the problem.
He is survived by his loving wife Sue of 43 years, daughter Melissa (Steve) Bland , step-daughter Tricia (Mike) DuPre, and step-son Tim O’Keefe, grandchildren: Padyn ( fiancé Chance Nelson) O’Keefe, Brody O’Keefe, Timothy DuPre, John “Jack” Bland, sister Mary Kay (Charles) Sorrentino and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
