John A. Klaung

John was born on September 30, 1932 in Ashland, WI, the son of Henry and Agnes (Reese) Klaung. John married Betty L. Wiltfang in 1956. John was a Korean War Veteran with the U. S. Marines. John was a member of Broadway Covenant Church, Sheet metal Workers Local #219. He was a former member of the Moose and VFW. John was an avid outdoorsman, loved fishing and going to Northern WI, gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels. He enjoyed reading about History and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. John was very proud to be a grandfather and great grandfather.

John is survived by his wife Betty; son Brian (Marie Epling) Klaung and grandchildren Nathaniel and Sofia; daughter Brenda (Tom) Meshot and grandchildren Sierra (Josh) and Taylor; son Barry (Julie) Klaung and grandchildren Jacob, Samuel and Savannah; three great grandchildren Judah, Emery and Ella.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank everyone at Farm & Fleet, Life Line and OSF St. Anthony Medical Staff for their help when John became ill.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Wounded Warriors Fund in John’s memory.

A memorial service to celebrate John’s life will be 11:00 am on Wednesday December 2, 2015 at Broadway Covenant Church 3525 Broadway in Rockford. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the church on Wednesday. Advantage Funeral Home in Rockford is assisting the family with arrangements. Cremation rites have been accorded.
