Joanne A. Moffitt

Joanne Alice (Kranish) Moffitt, 87, passed away on March 5, 2022. Joanne (“Snook”) was born on December 9, 1934 to Fred and Wilma Kranish. Joanne was a 1952 graduate of Rockford West High School, and had a passion for collecting books, photos, antiques, etc. about Rockford history. She was an advocate for mainstreaming Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in the Rockford Public Schools during the 1960s. She worked for 15 years in various positions at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Joanne was an avid gardener and took great pride in maintaining her beautiful backyard, which she loved sharing with visiting family and friends. She loved unconditionally and was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, friend and recently became a great grandmother. Joanne was an active member of Grace Loves Park for over 20 years. She enjoyed friendships and outings with the Red Hat Society, which once included a trip to the UK for an Easter parade. She had a passion for documenting her travels with scrapbooks and enjoyed visiting family members stationed overseas and throughout the U.S. over the years.

Joanne is survived by her children Lori Chandler of Rockford, IL, Scott (Lisa) Campbell of Rockford, IL, Nancy (Erik) Nelson of Spring Lake, NC, Wade (Beth) Campbell of Crystal Lake, IL, Chad Campbell of Rockford, IL, brothers Fred (JoAn) Kranish, Jack (Marcia) Kranish of Rockford, IL and sister, Mary Moorman of Denver, CO. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren: Lindsay, Mark, Emily, Adam, Aubrey, Olivia, Ashlyn, Evan, Henry, Lucy, one great grandchild, Sophia, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Neil Moffitt, sister Donna Hayes, and her parents.

Joanne’s family would like to thank the staff at Lincolnshire Place for the wonderful love and care given to her, as well as the Transitions Team for their dedicated hospice care.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm at Grace Loves Park 343 Grand Ave in Loves Park on March 12, 2022. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, we would like to encourage donations to either IFOPA (IFOPA.org) or the Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org). Burial will be in Willwood Burial Park at a later date.
