Janis L. Scherer

Janis L. Scherer, 77, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 5, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 10, 1947 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Donald and Dorothy (Anderson) Timmerman. Janis graduated from East High School, class of 1965. She was an active member of Silver Hill Pentecostal Church in Rockford for many years. Janis was employed at Eagle Food Store for 28 years, and was a server at Stockholm Inn and Machine Shed. She was a self taught artist. Janis had a passion for her Scandinavian heritage and inspired by her deep spiritual beliefs.

Janis is loved and missed by her children, Jayson Scherer, Lindsay (Adam) Yowell and Christian Scherer; grandchildren, Addison and Greyson Yowell; loving companion, Bob Sharp; siblings, Donald (Barbara) Timmerman, Jean Cozart, Dean Timmerman and Bobi (Torry) Edwards; as well numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Laina Scherer.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice who loved on Janis for the last 2 months and gave her, her final wish, of an art show.
